Wake Up and Live
To awaken something one needs to trigger a sense. Jazz brought the world out of the coma. Jazz was not an ordinary genre of music. There was not a precise or specific way to play a song. Spontaneous beats and rhythms was produced and the heart of the world began to beat. Jazz was the perfect spark to start a flame.
One of the most musical surgeons helped France get out and put them on a new direction to a better perspective of their life. Bechet's improvising techniques put Paris on their feet. Songs like "Wild Cat Blues" and "Kanas City Man Blues" were the necessary medicines to heal the war-torn Paris. Paris needed and wanted an escape from their painful past so more Jazz musicians were welcomed to Paris. Jazz brought a certain life style for the lost generation. The Lost Generation did not have any limits there was always a way and someone always dared to do something spectacular for the Lost Ones.
Gertrude Stein in 1933 published The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas. This autobiography stepped over the boundaries of "auto" biography. She completely took her own path and style of literature. Gertrude Stein helped navigate the Lost Generation into independence and self reliance. She influenced them to make their own paths.
The Lost Generation were many people and nations trying to find their way. Jazz and literature were two tools that brought life back into the world. Jazz awakened the world and gave Paris an opportunity to gain smile and live again better then before the war. Also literature stimulated, navigated and connected different life styles together. Which provided the Paris and the world to decide their own path. The Lost Generation was a group that were interested in making their own roads than using the traditional roads.
